Bars and Pipes

Amiga Software MultiMedia

MIDI Sequencer originally by Blue Ribbon Soundworks.

Bars and Pipes is pure MIDI - you need a MIDI device or softsynth to do anything with it. The name comes from the way it works - the tracks have two sets of pipes - one input set and one output set. Adding effects and other modules onto the input pipes whilst recording would result in them being recorded, putting them on the outputs would make them temporary. It may also have been possible to add some fancy plumbing to move music from one track to another. It uses the CAMD library.

Sadly, Blue Ribbon Soundworks were purchased by Microsoft, who halted development. They (or the Blue Ribbon employees) were at least kind enough to release their products as free downloads, including the source code to Bars and Pipes. It is now being improved by Alfred J. Faust as BarsnPipes.
